Akshay Tritiya, also known as Akti or Akha Teej, is a significant event in Hindu culture. It occurs on the third day of the Vaishak month and represents a time of purity and auspiciousness. This day is cherished for its sacredness, with every moment considered pure and favorable to new beginnings. 

According to the scriptures, it is a very promising day to start something. As a result, it is recommended that you buy gold, silver, and other valuable items on this day. This day is significant to Hindu seers and astrologers because it coincides with the Rohini Nakshatra, which is seen to be a lucky star. 

The History Behind The Day

Akshay Tritiya has its roots in ancient Hindu mythology. According to the epic Mahabharata, Lord Krishna blessed the Pandavas with a bowl of Akshaya (endless) rice during their forest exile in order to ensure that they can survive during their hardships.

Another narrative surrounds Sudama, Lord Krishna's childhood friend who received a lot of money after asking Krishna for help during his destitution. Since then, Akshay Tritiya has become synonymous with new beginnings, prosperity, and success. 

Never diminishing prosperity and wellness

Akshaya, a Sanskrit term, means "never diminishing". On this auspicious day, persons who worship Laxmi Narayana with a complete fast experience eternal sunshine and peace. This day is celebrated in Hinduism as a new beginning and a symbol of achievement. This day is known as Sarva Siddhi Day in Hindu philosophy and culture. In contrast, the later half of Akshay Tritiya is dedicated to investing, particularly in properties and assets. It is thought that purchases made at this time last forever, representing the eternal nature of prosperity.  The name 'Akshay Tritiya' represents the eternal and imperishable quality of this auspicious day, implying that investments made now will bring limitless rewards throughout lifetimes.
